Christmas in March! Christmas, Florida, that is. Home to Orlando Wetlands and Tosohatchcee WMA.

‍ ‍ East winds are blowing hard today and we’re hoping for some interesting birds from out at sea to be blown onto our shores.

‍ ‍ Baby owls, baby eagles, flamingos and Painted buntings …. all beautiful birds and all out in full display for us today.

‍ ‍ Spring has sprung and the warblers and other migrants are moving in and through Florida. What a great time to visit habitat like here in Sugar Mill Gardens in Port Orange.

‍ ‍ Our eagle and owl families are growing rapidly and it’s a joy to see so many success stories in this regards.

‍ ‍ Much easier to get birdies and eagles on the golf course with binoculars and cameras than drivers and irons. A day at Hidden Lakes Golf Course proves my point.

‍ ‍ Eaglets at two of the nests we’ve been monitoring, have begun “branching”….. leaving the nest by hopping to nearby limbs as a preliminary step in learning to fly.

‍ ‍ Plenty of chicks abound at Orlando Wetlands, one of Florida’s premier examples of Nature’s Nurseries.

‍ ‍ A fairely rare astonomical occurrence, the “Blood Moon”, took place on Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM. Hope you were able to catch a look. If not, here’s what you missed.

‍ ‍ A lot going on here in Merritt Island at this time of year as migration has begun and birds are departing as well as passing through on their journey north.

‍ ‍ Another trip on the St. John’s River provides us with great views of Bitterns, Limpkins, Snail kites, and a special show by a Barred owl.
