The Frigid Blast Continues…

The Frozen Hudson - Peekskill Train Station Nikon Z9 with Z100-400 at 100mm 1/1250 sec, f/7.1, ISAO 1100

As we are preparing to head out to our winter quarters in the next day or two, my excursions have been curtailed and today I only had a little over an hour of “free time” to get out and do what I love to do….photograph the natural world. So, I figured I’d try to get my final blast of the winter landscape here in the gorgeous Hudson Valley and hopefully find a few eagles on the ice flows. Ice I got….eagles no. Don’t know where they are. Possibly further south down around Haverstraw Bay, but I don’t have time today to chase them. In spite of no eagles, the frozen river offers me a nice opportunity to capture the essence of the north country in January. Temps today barely got to 20 degrees, but on the bright side that’s 10 degrees warner than yesterday! Within a week, I’ll be in lighter clothes photographing egrets, herons, rails, and all kinds of “other” snow birds as this snow bird joins them for the winter. Stay tuned for a change of venue and change in the cast of characteristics featured on this channel.
